Inverurie, Aberdeenshire

Inverurie operated a parochial poorhouse or almshouse from at least the 1860s. It was locally administered rather than operating as a statutory poorhouse under the central Board of Supervision.

The premises were located at the west side of North Street although are identified as a poorhouse only on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1869. The establishment comprised a row of four cottages which still stood in the 1970s. Marketmuir Court sheltered housing now stands on the site.
