Gairloch, Ross and Cromarty
A poorhouse was established in Gairloch in about 1846. In 1873, the site was converted for use as what became the Gairloch Hotel. A surviving block from the poor house at the rear of the site was later used as accommodation for hotel staff but was partially destroyed by fire in 1976 and then largely rebuilt.
